EASY INSTALLATION:

  1. Keep the paper backing on the decal DRY - If it gets wet, it will be ruined!!!
  2. Clean hands and the destination surface where the decal will be applied.
  3. Spray the area liberally with a very light solution of soapy water (two drops of dish soap per pint of water). A generous amount of liquid is necessary between the decal and the surface to ensure an even appearance when completely dry. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START INSTALLATION ON A DRY SURFACE!
  4. Carefully peel the decal from the backing paper with DRY hands. Apply the side of the decal (that previously had the paper backing) to the wet surface - as it will not stick on the etched or colored side
  5. Work from the center outward, using a rubber-edged squeegee, to remove the excess moisture and air. Wipe the surrounding area very carefully with a lint-free cloth to minimize the movement of the decal out of position. A rubber-edged squeegee is recommended, along with spraying the front of the decal with the wet solution after positioning it on the surface. This will reduce the possibility of scratching or damaging the decal.
  6. If tiny bubbles appear, simply remove the decal and repeat steps 3 through 5, using a generous application of the wet solution on the surface before proceeding to reapply the decal with the squeegee. Allow 24 hours for any excess moisture to evaporate completely.
  7. Windows or other glass surfaces are cleaned normally, right over the decal! There is no need to remove the decal for cleaning. To keep the decal's beautiful appearance, we suggest using a window cleaner WITHOUT ammonia, or just plain soapy water.

PLASTIC WINDOWS:   We recommend that you consult with the window manufacturer before you apply a window cleaner to any plastic surface. A light soapy water solution for the decal application may be used in place of window cleaner.

TINTED WINDOWS:   The decal decoration may have a more desirable appearance applied to the exterior surface, especially with windows that have a dark tint. This is a matter of personal preference, as the exterior installation will not affect the durability of the decal.

EASY REMOVAL & STORAGE:

Carefully peel the decal away from the surface, beginning at the edge. Be certain not to pull too hard, as this could cause it to stretch. If the decal is intended for reuse, DON'T fold or roll it up against itself. Simply place the DRY and shiny side back onto the original paper backing. The decal is now ready to be stored.

Window Art in Vinyl Etchings® produces all of its clear and opaque vinyl static-cling decals using a 7.0 mil premium clear highly plasticized flexible calendered vinyl film laminated to a 90# lay flat liner. This film is designed to accept a variety of solvent-based inkjet and UV curable inks common to wide format digital printing systems.

      • Applications:
        • Window decals
        • Temporary product markings
        • Point of purchase displays
        • Protective masking
      • Surfaces:
        • Designed for temporary application to glass.
        • This film may also function adequately on other smooth, clean surfaces such as metal and plastics.
        • Thoroughly test this product when applying to painted surfaces, as hazing may develop on the painted surface with extended exposure to static cling vinyl.
      • Temperature Ranges:
        • Minimum application temperature 40°F.
        • Service temperature range 20°F to 200°F.
      • Application Techniques:
        • The surface must be clean, smooth and as close to room temperature as possible.
        • Cold surfaces reduce the cling of the vinyl.
        • Small decals may be applied dry.
        • Large decals should be applied by wetting the substrate and the decal with glass cleaner.
        • Use a roller to smooth the decal onto the substrate.
      • Appearance:
        • Highly plasticized clear static cling may develop a surface haze.
        • Usually haze will dissipate after the decal is applied.
        • Although clear static cling is exceptionally transparent, flow lines may be visible to varying degrees.
      • Outdoor Use:
        • When using outdoors, this vinyl film may be used for temporary applications up to three months.
        • Temperature, wind and rain may also limit the bond of static cling vinyl to exterior windows.
